Our Community

Community Partners

The Plymouth Community United Way’s mission is to reach out and serve human needs. When the community unites and works collectively, we can accomplish so much more. Year-round, PCUW partners with groups, organizations, agencies, nonprofits, and individuals to ensure that all members of our community have their needs met.

In addition to donations and volunteers, PCUW works with the community by providing funding for Agencies and organizations to provide the basic needs everyone deserves. Learn more about our Partner Agencies here.

Helping Build a Stronger Community

Through our Community Impact work, your continuing involvement with the Plymouth Community United Way will help create lasting change. Your expertise, energy, and relationships are vital resources since Community Impact is an effort that’s owned by the entire community. We promise to direct those resources into long-term solutions that target the underlying causes of issues that affect our community.

Plymouth Community United Way’s agency partners are doing great work every day, and there will always be a need for basic needs, prevention, and development programs. Community Impact takes that work one step further. Working together with a broad range of community partners – partner agencies, schools, faith-based groups, businesses, energized individuals, local government, and more – we’re seeking results that no one can accomplish alone.

What is Community Impact?

  • Improving the lives of all people affected by the community’s issues – not just clients of programs funded by United Way.
  • Pinpointing the root causes of problems that threaten our community – developing strategies and partnerships to change them.
  • Working in a multi-faceted role with whatever partners can play a role in changing community conditions.

United We Win

You can help our community with sponsorships, workplace designated donations, planned giving, and community drives. 100% of your donations go directly toward servicing human needs, right here in Plymouth and Canton.

Funds That Serve Our Community

The Plymouth Community United Way has a variety of available funds that help directly serve local human needs.

COVID-19 Recovery Fund

In 2024, we continue our efforts to meet community and Covid-19 needs.

A Covid-19 Recovery Fund was created in 2020 to directly address the needs of community members and our partnering agencies. We gave $62,423 from the Covid-19 Recovery Fund. There are still funds available for any Covid-19 related needs for agencies and individuals. If you are an individual needing assistance, please contact Plymouth Salvation Army and agencies can contact us directly.

This fund has been built up by donations from various individuals, companies, and United Way Worldwide for the express purpose of helping individuals affected adversely by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Plymouth Salvation Army has provided the intakes for individuals needing assistance. Applications are now available at Plymouth Community United Way or the Plymouth Salvation Army.

PPE Equipment grants have been provided to area agencies and organizations to meet their needs during this time.

On top of our grants, we were also able to donate the following to organizations in Wayne County:

  • 11,477 masks
  • 1,375 containers of sanitizing wipes
  • 546 face shields
  • 1,272 bottles of hand sanitizer
